Introducing Andrew Merefield, a seasoned photographer, educator and printing maestro with an infectious enthusiasm and wealth of knowledge. With over 30 years of experience, Andrew’s journey began at the Qld College of Art, where his passion for photography ignited into a lifelong pursuit.
For more than two decades, Andrew has been the heart and soul of Elite Studio, where he brings portraits to life. Andrew draws inspiration from a rich tapestry of genres, particularly the timeless allure of Hollywood’s golden era glamour portraiture and the iconic style of mid-20th century pinup artists.
A milestone moment for Elite Studio came with the distinction of becoming the first photography studio in the southern hemisphere to earn the prestigious title of an official partner studio for Retro Lovely Magazine, an iconic pinup publication.
But what truly sets Andrew apart is his unwavering commitment to fostering a community of passionate photographers. Recognising the transformative power of education, he dedicates himself to sharing his wealth of knowledge and expertise with others. Through meticulously crafted and highly interactive photography workshops, Andrew creates an environment where aspiring photographers can not only learn the technical aspects of the craft but also delve into the creative depths of their imagination.
In his workshops, participants are encouraged to explore new perspectives, experiment with different techniques, and push the boundaries of their creativity. Andrew’s hands-on approach ensures that every attendee receives personalised attention and guidance, regardless of their skill level. Moreover, Andrew’s workshops are more than just learning sessions; they are vibrant hubs of inspiration and collaboration. Attendees have the opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals, share ideas, and forge lasting friendships within the photography community.
