Green Season Tour
Darwin March 2019
The Top End of the Northern Territory has an amazing trilogy of national parks, Kakadu, Nitmiluk and Litchfield. Their landscapes have been carved from ancient rocks by the extremes of weather experienced in the region. Most people visit these parks in the dry season but we are going to explore them in the green season.
The wet season changes the landscape from dry and arid to lush green hues. Dry watercourses are flowing and the huge flood plains spring to life. The sky can fill with storm clouds and be split by lightning or be bright blue. The flooding rains restrict access to some places but also create unique photo opportunities that you will never see in the dry.
The tour is planned for mid March 2019, meeting in Darwin for a welcome and photo walk on Sunday afternoon followed by a true briefing on Sunday evening. We depart on the Monday morning heading across to Kakadu, with a detour on the way for a wetlands cruise. We will spend three days exploring the green plains and coloured rocks of Kakadu before heading south to Nitmiluk National park. Cruising the gorge as the wet season rains flow above normal levels in the morning before flying over the gorge and Arnhem plateau in a chartered scenic flight in the afternoon. Finally we will head north to see the waterfalls of Litchfield National park as they thunder over the escarpment before returning to Darwin.
The cost of this tour is $5750 including accommodation, meals, travel and tours. This price does not include travel to and from Darwin, you can book your travel to suit your own needs and add in extra accommodation for any other activities you want to do while in the Northern Territory.
